Your Responsibilities While in the Building
We have put safety procedures in place to keep both students and staff safe.
  • Physical Distancing: 6 feet of social distancing will be observed.  Our school will create conditions to support this. ( Markings on floor, limited number of students in each room)
  • Face Coverings: Masks will be required inside school buildings. Exceptions will be developmentally- and age-appropriate, consistent with guidance of health agencies, and paired with increased Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for staff. NYCDOE is procuring and distributing appropriate PPE for students and staff to use when inside school buildings.
  • Hand Washing and Hand Sanitizing: All students and staff will be required to wash hands throughout the day including but not limited to before and after eating, after using the bathroom and after touching commonly used surfaces.
  • Illness: Any student or staff member that exhibits signs of illness or has a fever of 100.0 or above must stay home. If your child has been in contact with someone who has COVID-19 or exhibits  symptoms, it is required that you stay home for a 14 day period.
Safety Precautions Taken By Our School
The following  are additional precautions, our school is taking.  These additional precautions,  which consist of  guidance from local health authorities, will help reduce the transmission of  COVID -19 as well as other illnesses.
  • Class Size:  Class size for both 3K and Pre-K classes have been reduced. The maximum ratio for Pre-K will be 9:2 in Groups A & B. The maximum ratio for 3K will be 8:2 in Groups A & B.  Each classroom will be staffed with a  teacher and a paraprofessional.
  • Arrival/ Dismissal Protocols: Protocols will be adjusted to comply with physical distancing regulations and health and safety precautions.  Each individual site will communicate the plan to families. Arrival/dismissal schedules will be sent home.
  • Cleaning: All classrooms and school facilities will be properly cleaned each night using disinfection supplies as well as electrostatic sprayer.
  • Isolation Rooms: All of the District 27 Pre-K Centers will house an Isolation Room staffed by either a health professional or a dedicated staff member.  Any student that exhibits COVID-19 symptoms will be placed in the Isolation room while waiting to be picked up by a parent or guardian.
  • Temperature Checks: Random temperature checks of students and staff will be taken.

Tips for Successful At-Home Learning
At-home learning will look different than a typical school day. The amount of time your child should be expected to engage in learning activities will vary. We encourage you to discuss this with your child's teacher to create a schedule that best fits your child's and families needs.
  • Relationships are key.  There will be a focus on teacher-child- family relationships.
  • Maximize in person experience.
  • Ensure age appropriate spaces.
  • Young children should play together.
  • Continuous partnerships with families.

Help For Families
Safe, nurturing and predictable environments are essential for young children's healthy development. We believe that families, as children's primary caregivers, play the most important role in providing safe, nurturing, and predictable environments for children. When families and educators work together in a trusting partnership, they lay the foundation for children's lifelong success.
